We quite like the Suzuki Ignis — it was a star in our 2017 Car of the Year awards for good reason.

While a large part of the Ignis' popularity comes down to practicality and packaging, a perhaps larger part still comes from its almost overbearing cuteness. From front to rear, door card to door card, the Ignis is packed with character. Be it in the form of that 'Batman' eye mask across the snout, or the countless references to retro Suzukis of old inside and out.

It's a car that seems built for the personalization that young whippersnappers crave, and so it's no surprise that a new trim level has been released to reflect this; the Adventure.

A cute rear spoiler, larger side skirts, and skid plates on the front and rear enhance the adventure-ish, shrunken off-roader vibe, while different colour coded options in the primary grill, fog lights, and decals help owners stand further out from the crowd in a car that already garners second glances.

The updates come at a £1,000 premium for UK buyers over the £13,999 SZ-T Ignis range topper (known as the LTD in New Zealand, and priced at NZ$22,500). Sadly there are no big engine changes; no fat turbocharger poking out of the bonnet and no lift kits. But, for what seems a rather minor premium it's hard to expect much more.

The Ignis Adventure is one of two new models revealed for the UK; the second being the Suzuki Vitaru 'Kuro' (Japanese for 'black').

The new Vitara model sees Suzuki basically dip the whole car in black. It gets black wheels, a black body kit and door mirrors, a blacked out grill, and a heap of piano black pieces inside. A myriad of Kanji Kuro badges round out the visual package.

Ironically, the Kuro is also available in silver, grey, and white. Somewhat defeats the purpose I would've thought...
