- Sky New Zealand has renewed its deal to broadcast the Supercars Championship here.
- The deal covers the next four seasons up until the end of 2029.
- Sky currently also holds the local rights to F1, Superbikes and IndyCar.
New Zealand motorsport fans have another reason to renew that Sky subscription for another few years thanks to the announcement that the broadcaster has secured the rights to broadcast and stream the Supercars Championship from the start of 2026 through to the end of the 2029 season.
"Supercars is a fan favourite, delivering edge-of-your-seat entertainment, fierce competition, and some of the best drivers in the sport. We’ve been proud to bring the championship to Kiwi audiences for over a decade, and this new deal locks in Supercars as a key part of our motorsport offering for years to come,” said Sky’s Head of Content Partnerships, Adam Crothers.
Crothers said that the addition of a second New Zealand race from 2026 – a new Christchurch round will join the existing Taupo round – will see the local connection to the championship grow even stronger. "Two home races for Kiwi fans is a game-changer," he said.
Currently there are five Kiwi drivers currently competing in the series and a proud history of New Zealand champions - including Shane van Gisbergen, Scott McLaughlin, Jim Richards, and Robbie Francevic - the Supercars Championship continues to be a major drawcard for local motorsport fans.
"We’re absolutely thrilled to extend our partnership with Sky, which has been a fantastic broadcast partner for over a decade," said Supercars CEO James Warburton.
"This new deal guarantees Kiwi fans can continue to watch every moment of Supercars action, wherever they are.
"With two events in New Zealand locked in until at least the end of 2028 and 20 per cent of our global fan base residing in New Zealand, this partnership is critically important to us."
Warburton said that New Zealand has an "incredibly passionate" motorsport audience, and along with its rich history of Supercars success, and a new generation of Kiwi stars making their mark, the company was proud to deepen its commitment to New Zealand fans and continue to grow its footprint in what it says is a key market for the Supercars series.
The new deal reinforces Sky’s robust motorsport coverage in New Zealand, with its covering everything from Formula 1 and IndyCar to World Superbike, with Supercars "remaining a core part of the line-up."
The 2025 Supercars competition is currently underway, with the Century Batteries Ipswich Super 440 taking place this weekend (8-10 August).
