Skoda Motorsport has unveiled the Enyaq RS Race concept, a leaner, meaner version of its popular Enyaq Coupe vRS.
This electric coupe-style crossover SUV, tailored for track performance, boasts significant weight reduction, precision engineering and a reimagined interior, positioning it as a formidable competitor on the racing circuit.
Radical weight loss
One of the most striking aspects of the Enyaq RS Race is its dramatic weight reduction. Shedding an impressive 316kg, the vehicle incorporates biocomposite materials, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional carbon fibre.
This eco-conscious decision doesn’t compromise performance, as Skoda says these materials provide the same rigidity while significantly reducing the overall weight.
Polycarbonate windows and a biocomposite roof panel further contribute to the car's diet, replacing the heavier panoramic glass roof found in the standard model.
Aero enhancements
Visually, the Enyaq RS Race leaves no doubt about its motorsport aspirations.
The concept sports a set of aggressive bumpers, a redesigned aerodynamic body kit and a minimalist grille paired with darkened headlights.
A ventilated hood and extended fenders enhance its track-ready look, while small winglets on the roof work in unison with a prominent rear wing to optimise airflow.
Completing the exterior are aerodynamically refined side mirrors, a massive rear diffuser, and 20-inch wheels shod in low-profile tyres.
All these components work together to reduce drag and improve handling at high speeds.
Motorsport-ready features
Inside the cabin, Skoda has stripped away the frills, creating a purposeful and functional space.
The chromoly roll cage and Atech racing seats with six-point harnesses highlight its track orientation.
Furthering its motorsport credentials, the Enyaq RS Race features a rally-inspired hydraulic handbrake, an automatic fire extinguisher, and a race-spec steering wheel.
While most of the interior has been optimised for weight savings, the 13-inch infotainment system remains intact, ensuring drivers still have access to vital information and controls.
An innovative touch is the Havas premium audio system, which enhances the racing experience by amplifying engine sounds when the vehicle exceeds 30km/h.
Skoda promises an "exhilarating motorsport" experience, with the audio volume significantly louder than the road-going Enyaq Coupe RS.
Performance upgrades
Beneath the skin, the Enyaq RS Race concept retains the familiar dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system, delivering 250kW.
While the powertrain remains unchanged, the significant reduction in weight allows the car to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in under five seconds - shaving 0.5 seconds off the time of its standard counterpart.
Further enhancements include a new steering system and carbon-ceramic brakes, ensuring precision handling and improved stopping power.
Skoda has also equipped the concept with an adjustable sports suspension, allowing drivers to fine-tune compression, stiffness and rebound settings to suit track conditions.
