Skoda has just given us a first, well, peek, at the largest and most spacious model it has ever built, the Peaq.
The production version of the Skoda Vision 7S concept car first revealed back in 2022, the Peaq is an electric seven-seater that measures nearly 4900mm in length and 1700mm in height, and is built on a 2965mm wheelbase. The Peaq will join Skoda's growing range of all-electric SUVs, including the Enyaq, the smaller Elroq and upcoming Epiq city SUV and will be available in three powertrain variants designated as the 60, 90, and 90x, with power outputs ranging from 150kW to 220kW.
Skoda says the 90 and 90x variants will be capable of a driving range exceeding 600 kilometres. Charging efficiency allows the 60 variant to reach 10 to 80 per cent capacity in 27 minutes via DC fast charging, while the 90 variants complete the same charge in 28 minutes.
The exterior of the Peaq features Skoda's latest "TechDeck Face", a glossy black front panel with vertical slats and LED backlighting, along with full LED Matrix headlights containing 18 light segments, which are designed to optimise road visibility without causing glare for other drivers.
Customers will be able to choose from ten paint finishes and aerodynamically optimised alloy wheels ranging from 19 to 21 inches in size.
The interior provides seating for seven adults, with Skoda claiming that the long wheelbase provides significant legroom in the second and third rows. Storage capacity includes a 299-litre boot, which expands to 890 litres when the third-row seats are stowed, supplemented by a 37-litre frunk under the bonnet.
While it hasn't revealed any images of the interior yet, Skoda says it will offer five interior design options, including the Sportline and two Suite options that use Techtona, a "high-quality leather alternative". Some interior variants are entirely animal-free, sustainable and incorporate more than 50kg of recycled materials.
The Peaq's technological features include a 13.6-inch vertical infotainment display running an Android-based system that supports third-party applications such as YouTube and Google Maps. This is paired with a 10-inch driver display and an optional augmented-reality head-up display.
A new panoramic sunroof with Dynamic Shade Control uses electrochromic technology to adjust light transmission across nine individual segments, while an optional Relax Package adds AGR-certified massage seats and a premium audio system developed in collaboration with Sonos.
The Peaq also includes a number of traditional Skoda "Simply Clever" features, including wiper blades with integrated washers for more efficient cleaning and a Dual Phonebox that provides 25W wireless charging, an electric roller shutter in the luggage compartment, a foldable table, a display cleaner, a ticket holder, a USB socket integrated into the interior mirror and a USB port in the third row.
The first model available at launch will be the top-spec Sportline variant that is characterised by glossy black exterior details, 20-inch wheels, and an interior with dark tones and sports seats. The Sportline also includes a three-spoke steering wheel featuring Hands-Off Detection and regenerative braking paddles.
"The Skoda Peaq is designed for real life - for families who need space, for drivers who want confidence on long journeys, and for anyone who values modern style without compromise," said Klaus Zellmer, Skoda Auto CEO.
"As our next flagship, it raises the Skoda brand to a new level: more spacious, more practical, and more attractive for everyday explorers. With Peaq, we’re taking Skoda’s electric journey to new heights - in every sense."
The Skoda Peaq is set to launch in mid-2026 in Europe and other global markets, but the is as yet no word on whether it will come to New Zealand.
