JOHN ANDREW AUCTION EVENING RAISES $250,000 FOR CHILDREN’S CANCER TRUST
Auckland motor dealership John Andrew raised more than $250,000 for the children’s charity Camp Quality during its annual dinner and auction last week.
Hundreds of people attended the dinner and auction, held in the Ford and Mazda Grey Lynn showrooms on Thursday night.
The main feature of the auction was a new Ford Mustang, which had been up for auction online for a fortnight leading up to the event.
On the night the Mustang sold for $110,101. The remainder of the funds raised came from the auction of goods and services supplied for the event.
Camp Quality is a volunteer, non-profit charitable trust, providing annual summer camps and year-round support at no cost to help children and their families overcome the challenges of living with cancer.
In addition to the highly-specced Mustang, the auction winner also received a Hampton Downs and Highlands Motorsport Park GT membership package, which entitled them to race the vehicle on those tracks free for the next 12 months.
The package, valued at more than $14,500, was donated by Highlands and Hampton Downs owner Tony Quinn.
Among the other items auctioned was the use of a Mazda MX-5 for 12 months, donated by Mazda NZ and John Andrew Mazda, which raised $7000 for Camp Quality.
A signed Dan Carter All Blacks 2015 Rugby World Cup jersey, donated by Not4Me, raised $3200, and another Hampton Downs and Highlands GT Membership package raised $7000 during the auction.
A 2016 KTM 350 EXC-F dirt bike sold during the night for $11,000, and a lunch with Greg Murphy at Botswana Butchery restaurant raised $17,000.
An NZME radio advertising and digital package, donated by Driven publisher NZME, raised $9000 for Camp Quality, and a Seahawk Sunset fishing trip on the Hauraki Gulf for 20 people, donated by Seahawk, raised $6000.
The managing director and executive director of Automotive Holdings Group, Bronte Howson, told the crowd the results of the fund-raising evening had been “sensational”.
He said AHG was a $6billion company with a workforce of 7500, and Camp Quality was its charity of choice here, and it was important AHG was part of the community by supporting such a charity organisation.
