While flashy wheels and expensive paint jobs are usually how owners show off their wealth, car keys seem to be the new method in the insanely-expensive car circles.
Just last month, the Senturion Key S177 Full Meteorite released and had a whopping price tag of NZ$406,500. Crafted from asteroids, the wrist-mounted key was without a doubt the coolest way to start your Rolls Royce Wraith — until now.
Producing three different keys, a company named Awain are planning to introduce "the world’s most expensive and exclusive line of luxury supercar keys" to the world.
The most affordable in the Awain line-up is the Quantum line, which starts at a mere NZ$81,000, features a leather or wood interior which is surrounded by either 18- or 24-karat gold. Being the most affordable key from Awain, the Quantum only has 354 diamonds embedded in it.
The Serenity is the next step up and has 1,250 diamonds, this one starts at a hefty NZ$146,000 but is still a lot cheaper than Awain's flagship key.
Costing just shy of a million New Zealand dollars, the Awain Phantom starts from NZ$966,000 and has 34.5 carats of diamonds embedded around the outside.
Unfortunately, you won't be able to use one of Awain's keys with your work ute, as the approved list comprises of Aston Martin, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Maserati, McLaren, Mercedes, Porsche and Rolls-Royce. If you're still desperate to pair an expensive key with your daily, Awain's website states that their key concierge might be able to help.
When talking about the extremely luxurious keys that his company produces, Awain CEO Jalmari Mattila explained that "the very best cars in the world deserve the very best keys, and our pieces really make a statement of excellence.” Apparently, they're the ideal item for “supercar owners who will accept nothing short of an unparalleled luxury experience.”
