As engines get smaller and more quiet, the passion and dedication around V8 and rotary engines has hit an all-time high.

But, which of the two platforms is best? Our mates at Motohub hope to find an answer.

Over three episodes, they will compare a giant-killing Mazda RX-4 equipped with a turbocharged 20b with a turbocharged LS-swapped V8 Nissan 'Ceffy' Cefiro drift car.

They might be from different eras, but the two platforms share some similarities. They're both rear-wheel drive, and both have engines stroked to produce approximately 650hp — or 485kW.

They're also both road legal ... sort of.

Let the battle commence.
