In a recent conference call, BMW Chairman Oliver Zipse shared insights into the future of the Rolls-Royce brand, setting a bold course towards a fully electric lineup by the "early 2030s."
The upcoming Spectre, scheduled for late this year, will lead the charge as the first all-electric Rolls-Royce, marking a significant shift away from conventional combustion engines.
Zipse's announcement underlines Rolls-Royce's commitment to embracing sustainable mobility, aligning with the global automotive industry's transition towards electric vehicles (EVs). The move reflects not just a change in propulsion but an evolution of the luxury automotive experience.
The Spectre, as the trailblazer, promises to combine the opulence and grandeur expected from Rolls-Royce with the environmental consciousness of electric power.
Meanwhile, Zipse also shed light on the upcoming BMW Neue Klasse, slated for production in 2025. Described as more than just a new car series, it represents a paradigm shift—a generation of products sharing a common thread: an all-electric heart. Six Neue Klasse models, spanning sedans to crossovers, will debut within 24 months, emphasising BMW's dedication to an electric future.
That dedication also extends to the Mini brand, which will launch the Aceman all-electric crossover SUV next April. The new model is expected to sit between the Hatch and Countryman in Mini's increasingly electrifiied vehicle lineup.
