Following a landmark partnership deal between Holden and HSV, it's been confirmed that the Chevrolet Camaro and Chevrolet Silverado will soon become available to Australians and New Zealanders — for the very first time in converted right-hand drive format.

“This marks a whole new era for HSV and Holden and I hope our customers are as excited as we are,” said HSV managing director Tim Jackson.

“HSV is moving beyond simply ‘hotting up’ existing models, and customers will see two product streams from HSV over the next few years.”

Neither model will come with any performance additions from HSV, as the company move to broaden their business model. Both models will be marketed as Chevrolets, retaining the famed 'bow tie' badging.

The Camaro will only be available in 2SS model guise; powered by a 340kW 6.2-litre LT1 V8 engine, and mated to an eight-speed automatic.

While the Camaro will only be available in a single trim, Silverado buyers will have five models to choose from; four different 2500HD variants (including the Midnight Edition and Custom Sport Edition), and the 3500HD LTZ.

Each model comes with a 6.6-litre Duramax turbo-diesel V8 producing 332kW of power and 1,234Nm of torque. Towing capacity peaks at an impressive 6.1 tonnes, and payload capacity at 1,848kg.

Right-hand drive conversions of both models will take place at HSV's new Walkinshaw Park complex; the Silverado's conversions beginning in April 2018, while the Camaro will follow suit in July. Pricing is to be confirmed.

The joint announcement also includes confirmation of the new Holden Colorado SportsCat by HSV range, as well as the first change to HSV's logo since the company debuted in 1987.

“It is important that we continue to play a key role in enhancing Holden’s image in the market place, and potential customers can expect to see us going to work on enhanced products which are a natural extension of the Holden range,” added Jackson.

“Some of our traditional customers will expect more power, and if the opportunities present themselves, we will look to develop powertrain enhancements where it makes sense.

“However, we see an opportunity to appeal to customers by investing in enhanced vehicle specification and capability that really delivers a great driving experience and a competitive advantage in various segments.”
