Porsche has released the first official teaser images of its first all-electric Taycan EV, which is expected to go into production in September.
The top of the line Taycan model is expected to offer more than 450kW of power, with a driving range of around 500km.
The model is expected to be available in two body styles, a saloon available late this year, and a high-riding wagon version to become available next year.
The pictures released are of a wrapped saloon model, featuring the sloghan "Soul, Electrified" on the windscreen.
The front of the vehicle looks like a classic Porsche, with headlights at first sight appearing like the units in the current Cayman and Boxter models. However they have quad-LED units in a similar arrangement with the Mission E concept vehicle.
While the overall design remains close to that of the concept, the production Taycan will have a set of conventional doors rather than the suicide rear doors on the concept vehicle.
The rear end of the vehicle features a full-width LED light bar — in keeping with the likes of the current-generation Panamera.
Porsche will debut its innovative 800-volt technology with the Taycan, which will reportedly allow for shorter charging cycles and better performance. Customers will apparently be able to give the Taycan enough charge to provide a 400km range in less than 20 minutes.
The pictured svelte sedan is set to be complemented by the lifted wagon-shaped Cross Turismo model.
