Maybach refines its flagship with new tech.

Maybach refines its flagship with new tech.

  • Maybach S-Class receives its most extensive update, adding MB.OS and new digital features.
  • Electrified six and eight-cylinder engines deliver up to 450kW with improved efficiency.
  • European orders open from March 25, with production starting in April at Sindelfingen.

Following the reveal of the updated Mercedes-Benz S-Class in January, Mercedes-Maybach has unveiled a heavily revised S-Class, bringing its most comprehensive update yet to the ultra-luxury saloon, combining new digital architecture, electrified powertrains and expanded personalisation options.

Order books are open now, with other markets to follow, as the flagship becomes a central player in Mercedes-Benz’s broader product rollout.

Luxury, now with more processing power

The headline change is the introduction of MB.OS, making its debut in a Maybach model. Paired with the latest MBUX system, it enables over-the-air (OTA) updates, AI-assisted features and a more seamless digital experience across the cabin.

The interior itself leans even further into Maybach’s signature calm. New materials include open-pore woods and, for the first time, a leather-free upholstery option using “Mirville” textile.

Ambient lighting, now featuring 199 LEDs and dozens of colour options, responds dynamically to inputs such as voice commands and climate settings.

Rear-seat passengers remain the priority. Executive seating, a refrigerated compartment and silver-plated champagne flutes are all part of the experience, alongside automatic comfort doors that open and close at the touch of a button.

Electrified refinement across the range

Under the bonnet, Mercedes-Maybach has reworked its engine line-up with electrification across six- and eight-cylinder options.

The range-topping S 680 now delivers 450 kW plus an additional 17kW from mild-hybrid assistance, alongside 850Nm plus 205Nm. A V12 remains available in select markets, also rated at 450kW.

Further down, the S 580 produces 395kW plus 17kW and 750Nm plus 205Nm, while the plug-in hybrid S 580 e pairs a six-cylinder engine with an electric motor, offering an all-electric driving range of around 100km.

A revised Airmatic suspension system uses predictive damping, drawing on real-time data from other vehicles to anticipate road conditions and adjust ride quality accordingly.

Subtle design, sharper presence

Externally, the changes are restrained but deliberate. The grille grows by 20% and can now be illuminated, joined by optional lighting elements for the bonnet star and C-pillar badge.

New forged wheel designs, up to 21 inches, feature a floating centre star that remains upright while driving.

Buyers also gain access to an expanded Manufaktur programme, with more than 150 exterior paint finishes and over 400 interior colour combinations available.

Production begins in April 2026 at the Sindelfingen plant, with each vehicle built to individual specification. Mercedes-Maybach has not disclosed local pricing or full market availability details yet.
