New look for Red Bull Holden Racing Team revealed ... kind of

There's nothing like a series of teasing quick cuts and sharp edits to stir the mind and arouse excitement from motorsport fans heading into the 2017 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.

Red Bull Racing Australia — or rather, the Red Bull Holden Racing Team as they're now known — acknowledge this with their latest video, which provides a healthy glimpse into what their 2017 Holden VF Commodore will look like.

The video shows that the livery is finished in matte, and comes dripping with references to Australia's favourite lion. What it also shows is a car, we assume Kiwi Shane van Gisbergen's, adorned with the number 1. There had been conjecture over whether van Gisbergen would use the number one, with the 2016 series champ saying after last year's final round that he would prefer to hang onto his beloved number 97, but things look to have been resolved.

2017 represents an interesting one for both the Red Bull squad and the Supercars grid at large. It will be the final year that the team use the Holden VF Commodore as a base for its Supercar, with the next generation Insignia-based Commodore to provide the visuals and the engine package for their 2018 machine.

Other elements remain up in the air, as to whether other manufacturers will join the series as Volvo and Ford prepare to depart. Both Alfa Romeo and Kia have been rumoured in the recent past as possible takers.

Either way, expect this Red Bull Commodore to frequent the top step of the podium in 2017.
