Wearable tech-tinged art lands after Chengdu debut.

  • Puma and BMW M Motorsport unveiled a five-piece capsule collection inspired by Cao Fei’s Art Car #18.
  • The range incorporates AR-style graphics and glow-in-the-dark details.
  • The collection premiered at the M Festival in Chengdu and is now available globally.

Puma and BMW M Motorsport have teamed up again, this time to bring one of the most ambitious BMW Art Cars into everyday apparel.

The new capsule line, created with Chinese multimedia artist Cao Fei, made its debut at the M Festival at Chengdu Tianfu International Raceway. The pieces draw directly from Fei’s BMW Art Car #18, a BMW M6 GT3 she transformed into the series’ first fully digital work in 2017.

Fei’s original Art Car blended augmented reality, film and virtual elements into a layered experience that could only be fully unlocked through digital viewing. The new clothing range follows the same philosophy: a fusion of physical fabric and virtual-inspired details designed to echo China’s rapid technological evolution.

The five-item collection leans into the Art Car’s dual-world theme with tech-inflected accents and standout glow-in-the-dark components.

Each piece highlights a different aspect of the #18 design, making the apparel function almost like fragments of wearable art. Pricing lands at €50 (NZ$100) for the cap, €65 ($130) for the T-shirt, €110 ($220) for the hoodie, €140 ($283) for the shoes and €250 ($505) for the jacket.

Thousands of fans, one standout collaboration

The Chengdu M Festival drew thousands of BMW M enthusiasts for a weekend celebrating Motorsport heritage and modern performance. A keynote session with Fei offered behind-the-scenes insight into how the original digital Art Car informed the clothing line, and how the collaboration with Puma translated her concepts into something tactile.

Now available worldwide, including through the BMW Lifestyle Shop, the Puma x BMW M Motorsport Art Car Capsule Collection gives fans a fresh way to engage with one of the marque’s most unconventional artistic projects.
