Fieldays at Mystery Creek is popular with car companies.

For the major vehicle distributors, Fieldays at Mystery Creek, Waikato isn’t just a chance to show off new products to the rural sector but also chance to boost sales.

In the past, there is a spike in vehicle registrations after Fieldays as buyers take advantage of specials that are not only available at the Mystery Creek event, but also in dealerships nationwide.

Vehicle distributors will also be using the event to showcase new products, with Holden New Zealand revealing its Colorado Xtreme ute prototype, which has an approximate cost of $3 million.

It was created at GM Holden’s Melbourne centre before being revealed early this year at the Bangkok motor show on the Chevrolet stand.

For its appearance at Mystery Creek, the Xtreme had a Holden badge replacing theChevrolet emblem on the front grille with a subtle Holden black matte crest on the rear.

Holden New Zealand’s managing director, Kristian Aquilina, said the Colorado Xtreme was the company’s most expensive vehicle to ever be here.

The Xtreme features large engine hood scoops, side plates on the sports bar as well as a Safari Bar plus LED lights in the front grille and on the roof basket.

The Colorado Xtreme was hand-built in Australia and indicates the design features inside and out of the facelift Colorado ute that will be launched in New Zealand in September.

Ford New Zealand is offering Fieldays attendees the Everest “Off the Grid” drive experience. The company’s new SUV will allow up to six passengers at a time to join Ford’s professional driver on a track complete with a water wading tunnel, bridge, hillclimb and most likely, lots of mud.

The track has been designed to demonstrate the Everest’s capability and refinement.

Ford will also have on display the rest of the Ford range, including the newly arrived Focus RS and New Zealand’s best-selling sports car, the Mustang.

Ford will have two Rangers on display, including a personalised ute by Ford’s marketing team.

Hyundai New Zealand is the long-term principal vehicle sponsor of Fieldays and Mystery Creek Events Centre, and the Korean brand is famous for its site.

Hyundai NZ will be hosting thousands of their current customers, including VIP hospitality, VIP parking, golf carting to and from the dedicated parking space for Hyundai owners, and activation zones such as the Family Time Project area, and the newly created WRC zone with the i20 NZ Rally car on display.

There will also be guest appearances from celebrity chefs Al Brown and Allyson Gofton, as well as Bernice Mene and the Pinnacle Programme.

Hyundai NZ will have 35 vehicles on display, including the Tucson and Santa Fe, plus the luxury Genesis sedan and the soft launch of the all-new Mighty Truck range.

Toyota New Zealand will have 11 Hilux vehicles from its range of 21 models plus “we’ll have a number of other models on display with great sale prices as part of our current Fieldays Sale”, said Toyota NZ’s spokesman.

Ateco Group is launching the Ram trucks with Cummins diesel engines at the Mystery Creek event.

The left-hand-drive large trucks are imported to Melbourne, Australia and re-manufactured as right-hand-drive at a purpose-built set-up factory.
