GWM has launched pre-orders for its first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) in New Zealand, the H6GT, promising a blend of impressive electric range and hybrid efficiency. The SUV, priced at $58,990 plus on-road costs, is set to arrive in early 2025.
Huge electric-only range
The H6GT PHEV features a 'class-leading' electric-only range of 180 km, courtesy of its 35.4kWh battery pack.
GWM says this range surpasses competitors in the segment, offering extended zero-emissions travel for urban commutes.
Fast charging via a 48kW DC charger can replenish the battery from 30% to 80% in just 26 minutes.
Steve Maciver, GWM Haval’s Head of Marketing, emphasised the importance of this model: “This class-leading technology and range will empower owners to enjoy all-electric driving for a majority of their urban trips, while the hybrid system ensures peace of mind on those longer journeys.”
Hybrid power
At the heart of the H6GT is a 1.5-litre turbocharged hybrid engine paired with three electric motors, delivering a combined output of 342kW and 762Nm.
The setup enables a brisk 0 to 100km/h time of 4.9 seconds and ensures smooth transitions between electric and hybrid modes. With a combined range exceeding 1000km, the H6GT is positioned as a versatile solution for diverse driving needs.
The SUV is based on GWM’s Ultra model and incorporates a 4WD system, enhancing its performance and stability. Charging options include AC 6.6kW and DC 48kW for flexible refuelling.
The H6GT PHEV is now available for pre-order across New Zealand, with details accessible through GWM dealerships or their website.
