A new kind of co-pilot?

A new kind of co-pilot?

  • The Pininfarina-co-developed Vittori Turbio hypercar is powered by an 820kW 6.8-litre V12 hybrid.
  • Pininfarina confirmed AI assisted in the early design phase before its team refined the final form.
  • Only 50 units will be built, with pricing and production timing yet to be disclosed by Vittori.

Pininfarina, the Italian design house behind countless automotive icons, has teamed up with newcomer Vittori to create a hypercar with a twist: the design was partly shaped by artificial intelligence.

The result is the Turbio, a 6.8-litre V12 hybrid missile that sprints to 100km/h in 2.5 seconds and makes a combined 820kW.

A Pininfarina spokesperson confirmed the rumours, stating: “AI was instrumental in the early phases of design, allowing to quickly iterate through hundreds of potential directions. Pininfarina then took that foundation, refined the ideas and transformed them into a fully realised, running show car. With nearly a century of experience, Pininfarina elevated the design turning vision into reality with timeless proportion and craftsmanship.”

When algorithms meet artisans

The AI element was first teased by Vittori, though its mention later disappeared from official materials - understandably touchy territory for a brand so tied to human artistry.

Pininfarina describes the project as being “based on an original visual concept by Vittori and designed in partnership” between the two firms. In short: the machine may have sketched, but the masters still sculpted.

Visually, the Turbio wears its influences on its carbon sleeve. Think Bugatti-like grille, deep side intakes and a low, teardrop canopy. The rear is pure theatre, with a sculpted engine cover, quartet of tailpipes and lighting unlike anything else on the road.

Old-school muscle, new-school mind

Underneath the sleek design sits a 6.8-litre naturally aspirated V12 from Italtecnica, paired with an electric motor to deliver the full 820kW punch. The engine revs close to 9000rpm and channels power through a yet-unspecified platform that happens to share its length, wheelbase and weight with Lamborghini’s Revuelto.

Inside, the cabin continues the sci-fi flair with layered leather in white, black, and blue, a portrait infotainment screen, and an array of switches that seem borrowed from a spacecraft. Only 50 units are set for production, with pricing and delivery still under wraps.

AI may have sketched the first lines, but the Turbio’s final form proves there’s still magic when silicon and soul collaborate.
