On the surface of things there isn't much similarity between the Hyundai Kona and the Holden Equinox, barring the fact of course that they're both SUVs.
One is a funky little thing that couldn't scream 'Millennial bait' louder if it tried, while the other is much more embracing of convention — though still handsome in its own right.
But now the pair share some common ground, in scoring 5-star safety ratings in recent testing with the Australian New Car Assessment Programme (or ANCAP as they're better known).
In a press release, the AA noted and commended the manufacturers for including autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and lane support systems as standard for the New Zealand market — things that our Australian brethren have to spend extra to get over the ditch.
“Vehicle safety standards are getting tougher,” said AA Motoring Services General Manager Stella Stocks.
“Yet manufacturers are continuing to step up with new technology to ensure their vehicles are safe both in a crash and can help prevent one from even happening.”
