- Only 99 full-size Pagani Utopia Coupes will ever be made.
- This 1:8 scale model comes as a detailed DIY kit.
- It features working components and a mini version of the V12.
For those of us unlikely to ever own a $4 million hypercar, Pagani’s latest project offers a far more approachable entry point - provided you’ve got the patience, a steady hand and about $2000 to spare.
Model behaviour: a hypercar in 556 parts
Pagani is building just 99 units of the Utopia Coupe, each priced at €2.17 million (around NZ$4.1 million). But thanks to a collaboration with Italian modelmaker Pocher, enthusiasts can now get their hands on a 1:8 scale replica - for a much more modest sum.
The model kit, sold for £879.99 (roughly NZ$2000), includes 556 pieces and over 200 screws.
Unlike most display pieces, this one comes completely unassembled, and Pocher reckons it takes more than 30 hours to build. A 138-page instruction manual is included - perfect for anyone craving a meditative project with a side of red wine.
Built to (miniature) spec
Finished in Rinascimento Lucido - the same launch hue as the full-size Utopia - the model is impressively detailed. It features working suspension and steering, functional doors, and a cabin that mirrors the real car’s red seats and dashboard accents.
Even the mechanical heart gets a tribute.
The 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged AMG V12 has been miniaturised and mounted into the scale chassis, complete with replica exhaust detailing. No, it won’t fire up, but the fidelity is remarkable.
Utopia for less - or even less
Still, $2000 for a model car is a lot by any measure. For a more wallet-friendly alternative, Lego Champions offers a 249-piece version of the Utopia for around $50. It’s less intricate, (no screws, no suspension) but it'll still turn heads on your shelf and go together in an afternoon.
Whether you’re a die-hard collector, a model-building enthusiast, or simply a fan of Pagani’s artistry, this scale Utopia lets you bring a piece of the dream home - no garage required.
