- Super Hybrid SUV travels 1175km without refuelling/recharging.
- New Omoda 9 on sale in New Zealand now.
- Combined 395kW from petrol engine and 3 electric motors.
Omoda's UK distributor has achieved an impressive road trip in the brand's new 9 "Super Hybrid" SUV, travelling through 9 European countries on just 1 full charge of the plug-in battery and 1 full tank of fuel.

The aim was to beat the car's official WLTP range of 700 miles (1127km). The company says the car did 730 miles (1175km) without the charge port or fuel-tank flap being opened and had "plenty more still left in the 70-litre tank".
The Omoda 9 is the Chinese brand's new flagship model, a luxury-themed 5-seat SUV that sits well above the C5 compact-SUV. It's just been launched in New Zealand in a single $68,990 Virtue specification with a Super Hybrid System (SHS) as standard, combining a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with a large 34kWh plug-in battery and 3 electric motors.
Variations of the SHS are also used across various Chery (Omoda's parent brand) and Jaecoo models.

The Omoda 9 makes a heady 395kW and can sprint to 100km/h in 4.9 seconds. The company claims 169km EV range from the battery (which can be DC fast-charged), albeit on the lenient NEDC cycle. We've got a full NZ test of the Omoda 9 coming up.
Meanwhile, the SUV's 9-country tour began in England on the white cliffs of Dover and traced a path through France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Austria.
Oomoda UK chief executive Gary Lan says: “For the Omoda 9 and team to have completed the 9 countries trip is a huge accomplishment, embodying more than our faith in our Super Hybrid System technology - it reflects our belief in making a connection to the journey."
