Toyota has once again been named New Zealand's most trusted new-car brand in the Reader’s Digest Trusted Brand Awards, marking an impressive 20 consecutive years in the top automotive spot. It also scored highly overall, in 3rd place behind chocolate and charity: Whittaker's and Westpac Rescue.

Toyota New Zealand CEO Tatsuya Ishikawa says: “Receiving this recognition for the 20th year is a proud moment for all of us at Toyota. It reflects the strong relationship we have built with New Zealanders through our commitment to quality, innovation, and service.”

The 2025 Trusted Brands survey was independently conducted by Catalyst Research. It invited a sample of about 1800 Kiwi adults, from every territory, to rate the brands they trust the most. They scored over 67 categories of products and services across a broad range of industries.

The other top new-car brands were Mazda and Honda ("highly commended" in Digest Awards-speak).

Other car-related categories include used vehicle dealerships, where Turners Group was named the winner, ahead of 2CheapCars and Enterprise Motor Group.

Bridgestone was top tyre brand, ahead of Michelin and Goodyear.
