Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) New Zealand has commissioned a survey of 1000 of Kiwis aged 30-88, asking what their ideal summer road trip would be.

According to the company, 69% of respondents says coastal areas and beaches are their favourite spots, with 70% saying the journey is just as important. Over half say they would prefer to "step off the beaten track this summer".
Over 90% said vehicle safety and reliability is a priority, while 47% say car comfort and fuel efficiency has an influence over which route they take.
So which are the top driving locations? These ones:
- Milford Sound
- Coromandel Peninsula
- The West Coast (North or South? They're both good)
- Christchurch to Queenstown
- The Desert Road (when it's open)
Being a car-brand survey, there's naturally an element of shameless product promotion, which in this case is the updated Land Rover Discovery, offering "exceptional capability and versatility to handle any journey," says the company.

So here's a picture of one, and very nice it is too. Other SUVs are of course available.
