The Nissan 370Z is on thin ice at the moment (pun completely unintended I swear).

Despite being arguably Nissan's best enthusiast line, the 'Z car' lineage could be on the way out going by recent reports. The incredibly mild nature of the 2018 update wasn't a good initial sign, and nor have Nissan's repeated statements on the model's low priority

And that's a shame for those wanting an entry-level sports car, as the 370Z is one of the best. It looks great, it sounds ... fine, and it can show many more fancied cars the way to the door — especially when licked with simple modifications.

Speaking of modifications, here's the new Nissan 370Zki Concept. It's a 370Z convertible for the snow, and is definitely, absolutely, not meant a silly PR sketch-on-a-napkin idea. No. Definitely not.

The 370Zki is going to be on display at this month's Chicago Auto Show, where it's expected to be snowing. Hopefully Nissan plan a few demonstrations with this mad little two-door beast.

As you can see, Nissan have added tank treads to the rear, to help the V6 get power on the snow and make the car look like it's landed on top of two snow mobiles.

At the front there are a pair of skis, as well as the original brakes which almost certainly do absolutely nothing in this application.

A skid plate and retina-burning wrap round out the modifications for a car that will probably get turned back into stock in the days after the show finishes up.

Sorry if I'm sounding a bit like the Grinch of silly cars, but surely giving their fans more reassurance about the future of the Z brand would be a better use of Nissan's time?

Rant over.
