Nissan teases a mystery crossover concept
Nissan has teased a mystery crossover concept ahead of its unveiling at the 2015 Frankfurt motor show, which starts next week.
Aside from issuing the shady teaser sketch (above) and announcing its appearance at the Frankfurt show, Nissan hasn't given away any other details about the new concept.
The Frankfurt-bound concept car could be a preview of the next-generation Nissan Juke. Last week, the company confirmed that the new Juke will be produced in the UK, amongst other locations, and it's likely that the new car will go on sale later next year.
The current Juke was launched globally in 2010. Last year, the Juke finished in the top 10 in the UK, with 39,263 units sold. In total, the polarising SUV accounted for almost 30 percent of all Nissans sold in the United Kingdom in 2014.
Alternatively, the crossover concept could be a harbinger of the next-generation Z car. A report emerged late last month that claimed that Nissan will replace the 370Z rear-wheel drive coupe with a sporty small SUV based on a front- and all-wheel drive platform. The reasoning behind this alleged move centres around the strong brand equity of the Z car franchise, and declining global sales of small, non-premium sports cars. According to the source of last month's report, Nissan will introduce a crossover concept at Frankfurt that provides a preview of what a new Z crossover might look like.
