Toyota will debut a new-generation Century, the first Century model of the 21st century, at the Tokyo Motor Show later this month.

The Century nameplate has been around since 1967, but this new model will only be the third-generation of Toyota's luxury limousine.

True to its heritage, the third-generation model retains the classic look of its predecessors with chrome grille, square LED headlamps and long wheelbase.

Destined for the Japanese market only at this stage, the new Century is longer, wider and higher than than any Toyota limo before it, providing more room in the back for distinguished passenger.

While almost every other car in its class opts for leather, the first Century model shown flaunts seats warped in 100 per cent wool heather-patterned upholstery from the backs of the front seats to the door panel trim.  A high-end model with with leather interiors and soft-textured upholstery will also be offered.

The rear row is definitely the place to be with adjustable power leg rests and built in massage function, controlled by a LCD panel located in the central armrest.

Other features include a writing table, reading light, rear seat entertainment system with a large-sized display, and a 20-speaker premium audio system.

Under the hood, the 2018 Century has a 5.0-litre V8 (which in Lexus LC 500 trim pushes out 351kW) attatched to a Toyota's latest hybrid system. No official perforance or economy details have been released yet, but Toyota say the hybridised V8 powertrain has been developed to produce 'the lowest fuel consumption in its class.'
