In the high-performance world, Speedster's are arguably the coolest type of car that money can buy. From their sleek low windscreens to the monstrous engines that sit under the hood, these road-going go karts ooze coolness.
Just a couple of weeks ago we saw the world stop in their tracks to admire the new 911 Speedster, and while this Callaway Speedster doesn't quite have the same shape, it still an attention-grabber.
This immaculate example was the product of US tuner Callaway getting their hands on a C4 Corvette back in 1991 and was once owned by (now) Kiwi film director James Cameron.
Callaway only ever built ten of these machines, making them one of the rarer American cars currently for sale.
Fitted with bespoke bodywork that was inspired by the iconic Sledgehammer Corvette, this C4 also received a revised front end with huge air intakes.
Arguably the most noticeable difference between the Speedster and the C4 is the windscreen and windows. To achieve the timeless Speedster look, Callaway fitted a much shorter windscreen, and added custom glass panels around the passenger area.
You'd expect an all-American speedster to pack some serious punch under the hood, and this one doesn't disappoint. Producing 299kW and 630Nm of torque, the twin-turbo V8 is impressive even for today's standards.
Cameron's example has only travelled 6700km in its 28-year lifespan, and looks to the in tip-top shape.
Callaway has listed it alongside another twin-turbo C4 Corvette for a package deal at $456,000, and hasn't mentioned if they'd sell the Speedster separately or not.
