When buying a car that comes with a turbocharged six-cylinder engine, the 0-100 time will be a more important number than the MPG, but it is still an important aspect.
EPA has just released the official numbers for the GR Supra, and although they aren't as good as the new BMW Z4's numbers, they're a pleasant surprise.
Every Supra that is going to be sold in the US have a rating of 9.8l/100km in the city, 7.6l/100km on the open road, and 9.0l/100km combined.
Compare that with the four-cylinder Z4 that manages a reported 9.2l/100km around town, 7.3l/100km on the highway, and 8.4l/100km combined, the Supra numbers are reasonably decent. The EPA haven't published the six-cylinder Z4 ratings yet — a comparison that will be interesting to see.
Powered by the B58 six-cylinder turbocharged engine, the A90 Supra produces 249kW and 494Nm of torque. It sends all this power to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission that can propel the car to 100km/h in just over four seconds.
Looking at pricing, Driven understands that the Supra is set to start over $100,000 NZD, and with only 40 models reportedly being sent our way, there's potentially going to be a lot of demand for the A90 in New Zealand.
