As the local launch of the 2019 Toyota Corolla approaches, the Japanese manufacturer can sleep well tonight knowing that it will hit the market with a five-star safety rating from the independent ANCAP team.
The Corolla's standard safety tech is one of the ubiquitous compact's main talking points. It includes adaptive cruise control (which can slow the car down to 0km/h, rather than cutting out in the teens), lane-tracing assist, autonomous emergency braking, pedestrian detection, and more.

The net result? Well, the Corolla scored top marks (8/8) in side impact and oblique pole testing. Front offset and full-width front impact testing, meanwhile, ended up with a 7.31/8 and 7.57/8 respectively.
In total, the new C-Rolla scored 96 per cent for adult protection, as well as an 83, 86, and 76 across child occupant protection, vulnerable road user protection (which mainly concerns pedestrians), and safety assist.
