Adverts for new cars are generally all the blimmin' same.
An SUV will be driven in rough terrain, and then through an urban cityscape to showcase versatility. A convertible will be driven by a mid-life-crisis-specification man and an inevitably younger, more attractive woman through a mountain road. A deep gruff voice will rattle off numbers and figures, as the beefy super saloon it refers to mows down corners.
All of this is why I couldn't stop smiling through Suzuki's new, almost two-minute long, Suzuki Swift Sport commercial.
The new Swift Sport is leaner and meaner than ever before, and will hit our shores sometime in 2018. But even with the added horses and whistling under the bonnet, it's not what many would consider a 'hot' hot hatch.
This is something Suzuki's new commercial tries to emphatically shoot to pieces.
Even after three or four watches I'm still not quite sure what's going on. It appears that the Swift and its driver sit in some kind of 'virtual reality' pod with lighting from that gaudy dance club down the road that always attracts noise control.
There's a woman in unnecessarily tight overalls driving the thing, and navigating various terrains and opponents — including two agro muscle cars and ... geysers? And meteorites?
Just watch it. And car makers if you're watching this, more incredible, silly ads like these please.
