Mini has unveiled its latest performance powerhouse, the John Cooper Works (JCW), blending cutting-edge technology with racing heritage.
Set to arrive in New Zealand by the second quarter of 2025, the new JCW model follows the all-new Mini Cooper, promising an exhilarating driving experience, bolstered by motorsport DNA and impressive specifications.
Power and performance
At the heart of the new Mini John Cooper Works is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo engine, delivering 170kW and 380Nm of torque.
This setup propels the vehicle from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.1 seconds, achieving a top speed of 250km/h. Fuel efficiency stands between 6.5 and 6.8 litres per 100km, with CO2 emissions ranging from 147 to 154 grams per km under WLTP standards.
The dual-clutch automatic transmission, with paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel, aims to enhance the dynamic experience, bringing a race-inspired feel to everyday driving.
Motorsport design
The design of the new JCW model emphasises performance. The high-gloss black octagonal grille, adorned with the John Cooper Works logo, is flanked by large air inlets, optimising engine cooling and aerodynamics.
Available with optional bonnet stripes in red or black, the aggressive front end is complemented by a rear spoiler and diffuser. The signature Mini LED headlamps and distinct tailpipes complete the sporty aesthetic.
The sporty feel is carried over to the rims, available in 17-inch or 18-inch sizes, and customers will have a selection of eleven colours to choose from, with contrasting roof and mirror options in Chili Red or Jet Black.
Advanced tech and safety

Inside, the JCW’s race-inspired interior features black vegan leather seats, accented with red stitching, and a central 240mm OLED display.
The Mini Experience Mode, including the Go-Kart mode, adjusts the cockpit display for performance metrics like torque and g-force.
Safety and convenience are ensured through an array of assistance systems, including parking assist, automatic distance control and more.
Local pricing and further specifications for the Mini John Cooper Works will be announced closer to its 2025 arrival.
