Subaru New Zealand has just launched the all-new Legacy sedan with plans to take on the Australian manufactured cars.

The largest Legacy sedan ever produced by Subaru starts at $39,000 for the 2.5-litre petrol and $10,000 more for the 3.6-litre RS Sport version.

Subaru NZ’s managing director, Wallace Dumper, told the motoring media at the Christchurch launch that his company was targeting customers who previously bought Holden Commodores or Ford Falcon – both of which large sedans will cease production in Australia in the next two years.

“The Legacy is a powerful, sophisticated sedan with the added benefit of all-wheel-drive,” said Dumper
