Germany's 'big three' luxury manufacturers are generally a humourless bunch. But every now and again they let out a subtle little nugget of zing.
Audi's latest commercial, on the surface, is innocent enough. It depicts the horror of Christmas, and a scene that we all know to well as two Audi RS-shod drivers war with one another to score the final parking slot at the height of the holiday season.
It's fun and popular to hate Christmas these days, and Audi know this. The two drivers get increasingly coated in sweat and angst as their hunt goes, and it's all good relatable fun.
The little nugget of zing? Well, it has to be the hapless gentleman 50-seconds in... mashing the buttons on his car key, unaware that his illuminated car (clearly a Mercedes-Benz) sits in the background with its boot-lid swinging open.
It's subtle, to the point where many viewers will probably completely miss it. German humour to a T, then.
