Cult British filmmaker Edger Wright takes audiences on one groovy ride with his musically charged action, thriller, crime, love story Baby Driver which tells the tale of the best wheelman in the game and his favourite playlist.

Here’s the synopsis:

A talented young getaway driver named Baby (Ansel Elgort) who is empowered by his own unique music playlist finally thinks he’s hit the jackpot when he meets the girl of his dreams. But when he is coerced into a dangerous job by crime boss Doc (Kevin Spacey), Baby has to do everything he can to complete the job and walk away clean.

Watching Baby Driver is a total buzz. I don’t think that I’ve watched a more fun movie this year. It’s quirky, edgy, funny, charming and just straight up fun with an unusual narrative and a bunch of very eccentric supporting characters. Young star Ansel Elgort is a joy to watch up on screen and is caught in his own world as the sincere and talented Baby. While he might hang with a group of heavy-hitting thugs he’s a nice guy and even in the tensest of situations, his goodness shines through.

Elgort is joined by a collection of terrific supporting players such as Kevin Spacey who portrays the cool, collected and calculating Doc. Lily James is sweetness personified as Debora, Baby’s diner waitress girlfriend who just might be his way out. And then there’s Jamie Foxx who absolutely steals the show as the impulsive and combustible gangster Bats who has a habit of compromising everything and everyone around him.

When discussing Baby Driver one simply can’t look past the awesome on-screen vehicular action. Wright’s talented stunt team has delivered some of the most awe-inspiring car chase scenes I’ve seen all year, and possibly of all time! The film’s opening bank robbery will leave you with your eyes open and what follows are some awe-inspiring moments behind the wheel. Baby’s driving consists of plenty of arching drift moments as he slides around the city of Atlanta, Georgia, and your eyes will be amazed at the tricks that he’s able to perform behind the wheel.

The film boasts a list of awesome vehicles that include the likes of a 2006 Subaru Impreza WRX, a 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Klasse, a 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and a 1987 Chevrolet Caprice. The stunt team pushes all these vehicles to the limit in the film’s wild stunts. Plus with its heavy musical influence, you feel like you are watching a symphony of vehicles in action.

Baby Driver also has one hell of a wicked soundtrack which features the likes of Queen, Simon & Garfunkel, Run the Jewels, Beck, The Beach Boys, T.Rex and Golden Earring. The music is so vitally important to the film and informs both the characters and the narrative. Whenever you hear a new track you know that it is
