Morgan has revealed the first images of an electrically powered three-wheeler concept car which it says will enter production in 2016.

The EV3, as the concept is called, will be the second full-electric vehicle the UK-based company has produced, following on from the Plus E, which shared its bodywork with the company’s traditional four-wheeled roadsters.

Morgan says that the EV3 will feature a 75kW motor, and that its overall weight will be less than its petrol-powered sibling at just 450kg.

That lightness, and the comparative lack of electronic gadgets on board, mean the EV3 will have an impressive range of 241km from one charge.

Morgan says the prototype is undergoing a full testing and development programme and that, like all Morgans, the production EV3 will be built to order and hand-crafted.
