Late last month Suzuki revealed its new Swift Sport with an image. One image. Just the one.
Well thankfully, Suzuki have released a few more images from the photo set; showcasing several elements we haven't yet seen. Things like the interior layout, seats, and a sneak peek of the Swift's rear end.
The first impression is that Suzuki aren't messing around with their rampant application of red stitching and paneling inside the wee little Sport. A large red panel on the dashboard is complimented by red dials, red inserts on the arm rests and centre console, and red stitching on the perforated leather-wrapped steering wheel and bucket seats.
Speaking of bucket seats, the new ones look reminiscent of the old ones — a rather good thing given how the last ones struck a healthy balance between comfort and support. The main difference is that the head rests are now integrated into the seat, rather than being detachable.
At the rear, there's plenty of faux carbon-fibre lookalike plastic. This helps form the rear diffuser; wrapping itself around a huge mid-mounted rear reflector and dual exhaust pipes.
As nice as images are, it's the details of the Swift Sport that we're all hanging out for. There are strong rumours that it will be a sub-900kg lightweight, which, when coupled with the 1.4-litre Boosterjet turbocharged four-pot from the Suzuki Vitara, make for a rather delicious and potent combination.
The suggestion is that the Sport will weigh as little as 870kg. If that comes to fruition, it'll mean a power-to-weight ratio of 119kW per ton. More of these details are sure to become clear when the car makes its international debut at the Frankfurst Motor Show. Combined with a chassis we already rather like, and this is shaping up to be a rather handy machine.
On paper, anyway.
