MG has shown off its all-new MGS5 EV in full, revealing that it will go on sale in the UK next month and in Q2 in other European markets. But will it come here?
A spokesman for the local arm of MG said that the MGS5 EV wasn't currently scheduled to make up part of the local model mix, but would not rule it out entirely when contacted by DRIVEN Car Guide.

The MGS5 EV sits on the same Modular Scalable Platform (MSP) as the successful MG4 and is being offered in Europe in three variants: the MGS5 EV SE Standard Range, MGS5 EV SE Long Range and the flagship MGS5 EV Trophy Long Range.
The SE Standard Range uses a 49kWh battery, while the SE and Trophy Long Range models use a 64kWh battery. MG says the smaller battery will have a range of 211 miles (340km),while the SE Long Range will be able to go for 298 miles (480km), and the Trophy Long Range will see 288 miles (464km).
The UK market MGS5 is RWD only and is powered by 170kW/350Nm electric motor. The S5's Chinese domestic market equivalent of the S5 - the MG ES5 - is also available with a 125kW electric motor, while the company is said to be mulling an all-wheel-drive dual-motor system producing up to 320kW.
UK pricing has been also revealed, with the SE Standard Range costing £28,495 (NZ$64,350), while the SE Long Range costs £30,995 (NZ$69,995) and the "generously-equipped" Trophy Long Range completing the line-up at £33,495 (NZ$75,640).
But don't read too much into the UK pricing, as the MG4 starts over there at £26,995 (NZ$60,980) for the SE model, while our equivalent MG4 Excite 51 model starts the range at $39,990, and the new MG ZS that starts at $29,990 here opens it range a rather hefty £19,495 (NZ$44,000), meaning that the S5 EV would likely be in the $45k to $60k range if it were to go on sale here.
