Following its announcement of the pint-sized Tiggo 4 petrol as the first Chery-branded model destined for New Zealand, the Chinese maker has now confirmed that it will introduce "Super Hybrid" technology in two further models, the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8.

Dubbed Chery Super Hybrid (CSH), the petrol-electric powertrain is essentially the same as the Super Hybrid System (SHS) just launched in the Jaecoo J7; Jaecoo is a sub-brand of Chery, although the two will remain quite separate in NZ.
Tiggo 7 and 8 are medium-SUVs with 5 and 7 seats respectively. They are on sale in Australia already, but the models begin introduced to NZ are facelift versions.
At the heart of the CSH system is a 1.5-litre engine, paired with an 18.3kWh plug-in battery that gives a claimed 90km EV range and 1200km total with the petrol/electric systems combined.

The battery supports DC fast charging, allowing users to recharge from 30-80% in a claimed 19 minutes.
That's all Chery is sharing at the moment, with more details forthcoming closer to launch in July - including pricing. But we'd pick a start in the $50k bracket, given the Tiggo 7 is a larger car than the $49,990 Jaecoo 7 SHS.
