MG Motor New Zealand is on a rapid ascent, opening dealerships and launching models left and right over the past several years. Now the British-born marque has appointed two new dealers to bring its location total to 18.

The new locations - Manukau MG and Ebbett Rotorua MG - come as the company aims to reach more Kiwi buyers with an aggressive vehicle rollout that will include MG4, which at its launch this week, will become the cheapest electric vehicle (EV) in the country.

“On behalf of the wider MG team, I’d like to welcome Manukau MG and Ebbett Rotorua MG to our dealer network,” said Arek Zywot, Country Manager at MG New Zealand.

“The new dealerships are joining MG at a very exciting and pivotal time for the brand, just before we launch the incredible new MG4, the first fully electric vehicle to be available for sub-$40K post rebate.”

MG began New Zealand operations in 2019, selling 681 units that year. It has since seen considerably more success, recording over 5,300 units sold in 2023 and nearly 3,000 in the first half of 2023 alone.

The 2024 MG4 will be launched this Wednesday, 9 August, with a starting price of $39,975 (plus on-road costs) for the 51-kWh Excite variant.
