Up to five available in New Zealand

The first cabriolet from Mercedes-Maybach is being unveiled at this week's Los Angeles Motor Show.

Production of the limited-edition convertible powered by a 6-litre V12 engine, is restricted to just 300 models.

A Mercedes-Benz New Zealand spokesman said there would be up to five of the models available to the New Zealand market.

The Euro 300,000 (NZ$454,300) four-seater is based on the open-top Mercedes S-Class,  but the company says it has exclusive features including a new front bumper and numerous chrome highlights, 20-inch Maybach forged wheels and the Mayback logo is projected onto the floor by means of entrance lighting.

The car has hand-finished and crafted leather seats, while the V12 engine puts out 463Kw of power.

All of the optional extras on the S-Class cabiolet come as standard on the Mercedes-Maybach, including Aircap, Airscarf and Swarovski headlamps.

The vehicle also comes with an exclusive  set of travel luggage, tailored to match and coordinate with the car's leather.

The company says the convertible also comes with a car cover made of high-quality fabric in the soft top colour.

In addition, each Mercedes-Maybach Cabriolet is delivered with a special welcome pack, including a key ring made of the nappa leather used in the vehicle and in the interior colour, with Maybach emblem and "1 of 300" lettering, as well as a certification certificate.
