Mercedes-Benz has officially revealed the all-new electric VLE, a luxury eight-seat people-mover that blends limousine comfort with MPV practicality, and launches a new generation of vans for the brand.
Built on Mercedes’ newly developed Van Architecture, the VLE is designed to combine long-distance efficiency, advanced digital technology and a highly adaptable interior.
A van that thinks it’s a limousine

The VLE represents a significant shift in Mercedes-Benz’s van strategy. Rather than positioning it as a traditional multi-purpose vehicle, the company describes it as a “grand limousine” that merges saloon-like ride quality with large-scale practicality.
Underneath, the VLE is the first model built on Mercedes-Benz’s new modular and scalable Van Architecture, which will underpin future electric vans from the brand.

According to Mercedes-Benz Group CEO Ola Kallenius, the model signals a major milestone for the company.
“The all-new electric VLE marks the next significant milestone in our successful 140-year automotive history,” he said. “It redefines the notion of space and comfort, and adds a game-changing level of versatility and innovation.”
Long-range electric touring

Two variants have been announced initially. The VLE 300 electric produces 203kW and offers a WLTP driving range of more than 700km, powered by a 115kWh battery.
A more powerful VLE 400 4Matic electric will follow, delivering over 300kW and accelerating from 0–100km/h in 6.5 seconds.

The platform uses 800V charging architecture, allowing the VLE to add up to 355km of range in around 15 minutes when connected to high-power DC chargers capable of up to 300kW.
Mercedes-Benz says additional variants with 80kWh lithium-iron-phosphate batteries will join the lineup later.
A rolling lounge for eight

Inside, the VLE leans heavily into its luxury positioning.
The cabin can be configured with five to eight seats, including premium individual rear seats with massage functions, calf supports and wireless charging.

Passengers can also access the optional MBUX Rear Space Experience, centred around a 79cm retractable panoramic screen capable of displaying video, games or video calls.
At the front, the optional MBUX Superscreen spans the dashboard with three displays under a single glass surface.
Built for comfort and practicality

Despite its luxury ambitions, the VLE remains highly practical. The flexible seating layout can be reconfigured or removed entirely, allowing cargo capacity of up to 4078L.
Rear-axle steering with a seven-degree turning angle delivers a tight 10.9m turning circle, while Airmatic air suspension with adjustable ride height aims to keep long journeys smooth and quiet.

With space for large families, leisure gear or executive transport duties, the VLE clearly targets buyers who want both luxury and versatility.
In short, Mercedes-Benz is betting that the future of premium people-movers looks less like a van and more like a limousine with serious space.
