  • The electric Mercedes-Benz G 580 served as the official Trophy Carrier for the 2025 League of Legends World Championship in Chengdu.
  • A bespoke CLA Art Piece showcased chrome, sapphire and gold design elements beside the arena.
  • Mercedes-Benz continued to sponsored T1, led by Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, in pursuit of a third consecutive world title.

Mercedes-Benz has put its electric G-Class in the gaming spotlight - literally.

The G 580 recently chauffeured the Summoner’s Cup to the League of Legends World Championship final in Chengdu. The trophy transport wasn't just for show, as it was fitted with a bespoke trunk module built specifically for the Cup.

This year’s Worlds finale saw Korea’s T1, led by superstar Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, achieve an historic third consecutive title - this time against compatriots KT Rolster.

Mercedes has backed both the tournament and T1 from the start of the 2025 season, marking four straight finals appearances for the team.

Art, chrome and a bit of blue magic

Alongside the electric G, Mercedes is showing off a CLA Art Piece inspired by the redesigned Summoner’s Cup.

The sculpture mirrors the trophy’s chrome finish and blue sapphire accents, with gold trim and the names of past champions engraved into the bodywork. It’ll sit beside the Trophy Carrier outside the Chengdu arena during the League of Legends Carnival, paying tribute to both the game’s artistry and its fiercely loyal fanbase.

The piece belongs to Mercedes’ “Class of Creators” series: five unique art collaborations that tie the CLA’s design language to creative disciplines beyond automotive.

For a brand that has long positioned design as a kind of performance, the crossover into gaming culture feels less like product placement and more like a natural evolution.

Worlds colliding

Worlds 2025 spanned Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu - the third time China hosted the championship after 2017 and 2020.

For Mercedes-Benz, the event reinforced its image as both a tech innovator and cultural participant. The company continues to push electric mobility under its EQ banner, with the G 580 4Matic now serving not just adventure seekers but, evidently, esports royalty too.
