The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class cabriolet has been teased ahead of its debut at the Geneva motor show at the end of this month.
As has become the norm at the house of the three-pointed star, the new C-Class cabrio will look like a miniature version of the S-Class convertible, with everything from the overall design and surfacing down to details, such as the headlights and tail-lights, cribbed from the larger car.
Although it’s not the first convertible to be based on the C-Class, the new cabriolet will be the first wear the C-Class name. The cabrio will round out the latest C-Class range, which already includes sedan, wagon and coupe body styles.
The convertible is expected to share most of its drivetrain options with its companion coupe. In Europe, the spark ignition C-Class coupe range starts with the C180’s 115kW 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder and tops out with the AMG C63 S’ 375kW/700Nm twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8.
A plug-in hybrid version is likely to be launched down the track, and the convertible will be available with turbo-diesel motors in some markets.
