- Mercedes-AMG is cold-weather testing an unannounced, extreme model near the Arctic Circle.
- The prototype is based on the CLE range, but positioned as a more uncompromising variant.
- It will be the second limited-run Mythos Series model, following the AMG PureSpeed.
Mercedes-AMG has quietly unleashed its next ultra-exclusive creation into one of the harshest test environments on the planet: icy northern Sweden, signalling that something serious is brewing in Affalterbach.
The camouflaged prototype, still officially unannounced, is undergoing intensive cold-weather testing close to the Arctic Circle.
Even wrapped in full disguise and shot through gloomy winter light, Mercedes-Benz says the car’s “particularly extreme” character is obvious at first glance, sprinting across snow and ice with a stance that hints at serious intent.
Mythos, part two

This mystery model will become the second entry in Mercedes-Benz’s ultra-low-volume Mythos Series, a line reserved for highly exclusive collector cars. The first, the radical Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed, an open two-seater with no roof or windscreen, set the tone for how far the brand is willing to push design and concept. The follow-up appears to continue that no-compromise mindset, albeit in a very different form .
According to Mercedes-Benz, the new AMG draws its foundations from the CLE range, one of the brand’s newer and more popular platforms. But while the family link is acknowledged, expectations are clearly being set for something far more aggressive, both visually and dynamically.
Built to suffer so owners don’t have to

Cold-weather testing remains a critical phase for any performance car, and this one is no exception. The Swedish winter provides sub-zero temperatures and low-grip conditions ideal for validating everything from drivetrain response to electronics, chassis systems and overall durability. Mercedes-Benz says the goal is to ensure “performance and reliability of all components even at the lowest temperatures” - the sort that turn lesser machines into very expensive sleds.
While no technical specifications have been released, as engine type, power output in kW, or drivetrain details all remain under wraps, Mercedes-AMG confirms the design, powertrain and performance will align with the car’s extreme positioning. Mercedes-Benz has not disclosed output figures, production numbers or a reveal date yet.
The long tease begins

With testing now underway and the Mythos badge confirmed, the countdown has effectively started. Expect more glimpses, fewer covers and louder speculation as this uncompromising AMG edges closer to its “big appearance”.
For now, it’s enough to know that something rare, loud (probably), and deeply unbothered by frostbite is being sharpened on frozen Scandinavian roads.
