New Mercedes-AMG performance models plus new engines and a host of added features are part of a wide-ranging update for the Mercedes-Benz E-Class range.
A new turbodiesel inline six-cylinder engine for the Mercedes-Benz E 350 d Saloon lifts power output from 190kW to 210kW, while both power and torque are boosted in the petrol-powered six-cylinder E 450 4MATIC Saloon, Coupé and Cabriolet models to 270kW and 500Nm (up 25kW and 20Nm).
All models in the range will now be fitted with Driver Assistance Package PLUS, which includes enhanced Traffic Sign Assist, which can adapt when interacting with Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC and SPEEDTRONIC functions.
A new-generation steering wheel with touch controls is now standard across the range.
Adaptive Highbeam Assist is now standard on E 200 and E 220 d Saloon models, while the wellness-focused ENERGIZING Comfort Control function that made its debut earlier this year on the range-topping Mercedes-Benz S-Class is now standard on the Mercedes-AMG E 53 Coupé/Cabriolet models, and optional on a number of other variants.
Also new and for a very limited time is a Sport Edition package. Available on E 200 and 220 d Saloon models for an additional $10,500 MRRP and includes Panoramic Sunroof, Head-up Display, Burmester® sound, AMG Body styling, 20 inch AMG alloys, leather upholstery, heated front seats and metallic paint.
New for the first time is the performance-focused MercedesAMG E 53 4MATIC+ range. With Saloon, Coupé and Cabriolet variants, the AMG E 53 4MATIC+ expands the E Class range.
Mercedes says "a potent and approachable" combination of The 3.0-litre, inline six-cylinder petrol engine fitted to all three variants combines with an EQ Boost starter-generator to send 320kW and 520Nm to the road via a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and fully variable 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive.
A switchable AMG Performance exhaust system is also standard for all variants, as are 20-inch, five twin-spoke alloy wheels. Other standard equipment across the AMG E 53 range includes a Burmester® surround sound system, nappa leather upholstery, front sports seats and sports steering wheel, and AMG exterior styling including a spoiler lip on the boot lid.
A panoramic glass sunroof is fitted to Saloon and Coupé variants, while the Cabriolet receives an acoustic soft-top, AIRCAP automatic draught stop, and AIRSCARF neck-level heating for the front seats.
The updated Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG E-Class family are now on sale and available to order.
