Lights, camera, traction control - Mercedes-AMG has pulled the covers off a wildly exclusive AMG GT 63 4Matic+ “APXGP Edition” at the Miami Grand Prix, timed with the upcoming Formula One-themed blockbuster F1, starring Brad Pitt and Damson Idris.
Only 52 of these special-edition coupes will be built, each inspired by the fictional APXGP team featured in the film. More than a styling nod, this GT is draped in handcrafted paintwork echoing the movie car’s livery, complete with race-gold accents and matte-gold forged 21-inch wheels. It’s a collector’s dream in cinema-spec carbon fibre.
From pit lane to big screen
The film, directed by Top Gun: Maverick’s Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, was shot during live Grand Prix weekends with the full support of F1’s teams, drivers and organisers.
Pitt plays a retired driver returning to the grid, paired with Idris as a young gun at the fictional team APXGP. Mercedes-AMG supplied both technical input and on-screen hardware, including the F1 Safety and Medical Cars, plus roadgoing SL, G-Class and GT models.
Michael Schiebe, Chairman of Mercedes-AMG, summed it up: “With the exclusive APXGP Edition, we're creating a limited number of GTs that blend AMG's excitement with the cinematic masterpiece F1.”
AMG GT with race-car pedigree
The “APXGP Edition” gets the full 430kW treatment from AMG’s 4.0-litre V8 biturbo, sending drive to all four wheels via a 4Matic+ system.
Semi-active suspension with rear-axle steering sharpens handling, while aerodynamic aids - like the fixed rear wing - highlight its track-ready intent. AMG’s composite brakes with black callipers and a front lift system round out the mechanical spec.
Ultra-exclusive
Gold detailing runs throughout the cabin, from contrast stitching on the seats to carbon trim with gold thread. The AMG Performance seats are trimmed in Nappa leather and Microcut microfibre, matched by a race-gold-stitched steering wheel and illuminated “APXGP” sills.
Other features include a Burmester 3D surround system (1170W), AMG Track Pace telemetry, a panoramic roof and ambient lighting.
Each car is individually numbered and delivered with a bespoke indoor cover. The APXGP GT goes on sale in parallel with the film’s theatrical release, starting June 25 in New Zealand.
