McLaren has, in its own unique way, released the first pictures of its upcoming three-seat 'Hyper-GT' interior.
The yet-to-be named hypercar - currently known by its internal codename BP23 - will see the return of the brand's iconic three-seat layout that has only been used in their first ever road car, the F1 from the early 1990s.
The BP23 production run of of 106 units – the same volume as the McLaren F1 – was sold out 'within weeks' of the car being announced, and now future owners will receive a special sculpture offering the first glimpse of their soon-to-be-named car.
McLaren say the 'Speed Form' sculpture offers a hint at the luxurious yet sporty interior, as well as hints of the bodywork design, one touted as the most aerodynamic in the company's history. Measuring 400mm x 205mm x 80mm and weighing 3.6kg, the sculpture is machined using the latest 5-axis CNC cutting technology but hand-assembled and finished.
McLaren say each BP23 ‘Speed Form’ took more than 100 hours to create, including 30 hours of 'expert hand-polishing'. The sculpture see's the central driver positioned further forward and higher off the grand than the two passenger seats.
The road-going BP23 will be McLaren's fastest road car yet thanks to a next-generation hybrid powertrain, propelling the three-seat hypercar to a top speed of over 390km/h.
But the new hybrid hypercar isn't all about speed. McLaren put emphasis on the fact that BP23 has been developed to combine hypercar performance with the comfort of a GT car, one capable of traveling large distances in luxury and comfort.
The estimated $3.7 million BP23 is due to be unveiled in 2019.
