Assortment of supercars, sportscars, and muscle cars fight for straight-line supremacy
If you're like me and live your entire life on the internet, you too probably jump with glee every time Motor Trend in the US commence their annual Best Driver's Car festivities.
But while I'm content to nerd out over the full-length film, the majority care more for the World's Greatest Drag Race — where the team pit every car from the comparo in a huge all in straight-line showdown.
This year's 12 competitors were particularly impressive, with strong contenders from all over the world represented on the grid. From the brand spanking new Acura (Honda) NSX that can claim to be both Japanese and American, to Jaguar's revitalized F-Type SVR, and the two cars that were crowned first and second in the Best Driver's Car rankings; the McLaren 570S and Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R.
But despite all those hyped machines appearing on the grid, this year's WGDR was one for the quiet achievers of the performance car world — with a ringer from relative left field taking top honours after going from 0–100kph in just 2.6 seconds on its way to a quarter-mile time of just 10.6 seconds.
