McLaren has reportedly confirmed that a futuristic video game-inspired one-off hypercar, code-named BC-03, is currently in the works.

Currently in the hands of McLaren's bespoke MSO division, BC-03 (which stands for 'Bespoke Commission 3') is said to be inspired by the 1,150hp McLaren Vision GT concept that was designed for video game Gran Turismo Sport late last year.

Talking with Pistonheads, McLaren said: "BC-03 is a bespoke customer commission being created by McLaren Special Operations,” but would not share any further details “because the specifics of the project are confidential between MSO and its client”.

Nonetheless, BC-03 is expected to be a track-focused hypercar that will be lighter than the soon-to-be-revealed three-seat Speedtail and offer more power than the naturally-aspirated V8 Senna. As it's a one-off build, BC-03 will cost the special customer a lot more than either of those performance models.

While almost everything about BC-03's underpinnings and body remains a mystery, the Speedtail's 1000+hp hybrid powertrain would be a prime candidate to power the bespoke hypercar.

It would also align with the company's newly released Track25 business plan, which confirms McLaren's its entire sports and supercar range will feature some kind of hybrid system by 2025, as well as the arrival of a successor to the P1 hypercar.
