Mazda has announced pricing for the highly anticipated CX-80, a three-row SUV set to make its New Zealand debut soon.
As the third vehicle from Mazda’s Large Architecture platform to arrive locally, the CX-80 aims to combine luxury, performance and fuel efficiency, catering to buyers seeking a versatile family SUV.
The CX-80 will be offered in two trim levels, SP and Homura, with pricing starting at $74,990 for the CX-80 SP Hybrid featuring a 3.3-litre e-SKYACTIV G engine.
The CX-80 SP Plug-in Hybrid, equipped with a 2.5-litre e-SKYACTIV PHEV engine, is priced at $80,990.
At the top of the range, the CX-80 Homura Plug-in Hybrid will retail for $89,490. These prices include GST but exclude on-road costs.
Both variants offer hybrid powertrains, providing a choice between a plug-in hybrid system and a mild hybrid petrol engine.
The plug-in hybrid combines a 2.5-litre Skyactiv-G four-cylinder petrol engine with a 17.8 kWh lithium-ion battery, producing 241kW and 500Nm of torque. Fuel efficiency is a key strength of this model, with a WLTP rating of just 1.7 litres per 100km and carbon emissions of only 37g/km. It can also cover up to 59km on electric power alone, making it a solid option for urban commuters looking to minimise fuel use.
For those who prefer a petrol engine, Mazda offers the CX-80 with a 3.3-litre six-cylinder turbocharged engine, paired with its 48V M Hybrid Boost system. This setup generates 209kW/450 Nm of torque while maintaining an impressive fuel consumption of 8.4 litres per 100km. This variant also offers a braked towing capacity of up to 2500 kg, providing versatility for those who need to haul trailers or boats.
In terms of design and features, the CX-80 presents a premium offering.
Both grades come equipped with leather-trimmed interiors, 20-inch black metallic alloy wheels and Mazda’s signature LED headlights.
The CX-80 Homura ups the ante with a panoramic sunroof, adaptive LED headlights and Mazda’s advanced Personalisation System, which includes facial recognition to adjust settings based on driver preferences. A high-power Bose audio system ensures a rich listening experience for all passengers.
