Mazda has unveiled a new crossover SUV in the form of the all-new Mazda CX-4, at the Beijing Motor Show.

We first saw the CX-4 last year in concept form as the Mazda KOERU concept, with the production model arriving astonishingly quickly to market.

The latest edition to Mazda’s new-generation lineup adopts SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY and KODOSoul of Motion design throughout and goes on sale in China in June.

The dynamic design is unmistakably Mazda's KODO design language in form, while the planted stance and sleek, coupe-like cabin combine to give the model an outstanding presence.

Despite the name, the CX-4 is in fact longer than the current model CX-5 by 93mm while retaining the same width of 1,840mm.

Mazda hopes customers will appreciate the exceptional functionality and user-friendliness built in to the CX-4, including the ease of entering and exiting the vehicle and flexible cargo space.

With SUV-like ground clearance of 197mm and Mazda’s i-ACTIV AWD2 all-wheel drive system, the CX-4 is equipped to take on a wide range of road conditions and offers a combination of outstanding environmental and safety performance (Sustainable Zoom-Zoom) and a precise driving feel with excellent handling thanks to its low center of gravity.

Andrew Clearwater, Managing Director Mazda New Zealand believes the CX-4 will prove very popular in China.

“Just like New Zealand, demand for SUVs in China is remarkably strong and the CX-4, the production model of the Mazda KOERU concept model launched last year, will further strengthen Mazda’s crossover series. We won’t know until later in the year what other markets will get the CX-4.”
