We normally scoff when premium carmakers explore "synergies" with premium lifestyle brands. It's usually a cue for some pretentious copy and cheesy photography.
All of the above is true of Maserati's collaboration with Italian "living" brand Acqua di Parma. But they've also totally drawn us in by including pictures of a stunning 1970s Ghibli Spyder, so it's too late now. Let's press on.
There's quite a bit of waffle about the "Art of Travel" involved, but basically the glamour item in the Acqua di Parma x Maserati collection is the Coffret (meaning a container, basically) in Acqua di Parma’s signature hat box shape. It contains the Andiamo Car Diffuser, paired with a Luce di Colonia refill and a set of driving gloves (yes, really) in Maserati blue nappa leather, trimmed with yellow piping.
The Car Diffuser is finished in Acqua di Parma’s signature yellow and embossed with the Maison’s emblem alongside Maserati’s Trident.
The companies says the diffuser's "circular shape is inspired by the iconic boxes of Acqua di Parma and is a perfect fit for any interior with its simple and intuitive mounting system that allows for easy magnetic attachment to the car’s ventilation grill".
The fragrance is diffused via the vehicle’s air circulation system and comes in special refills that can be replaced anytime. Please, please don't ruin your classic Ghibli Spyder by jamming a diffuser onto the ventilation grilles.
The gloves, "designed for comfort and grip, are fingerless, perforated at the knuckles, and fastened with tone-on-tone laser-etched buttons". And actually, they'd probably be quite appropriate for your classic Ghibli Spyder.
There's also the Passepartout Leather Charm with yellow stitching and the Maserati logo on the charm, plus a 12ml Colonia Eau de Cologne. Hang it on your bag... not on the car.
The Acqua di Parma x Maserati Art of Travel coffret is limited to 100 pieces and will sold exclusively at Acqua di Parma boutiques in Milan, Rome, Saint-Tropez, and Paris. Of course. Which also conveniently means it doesn't have to quote the price, unless you can show up at one of those stores. We'd say prepare for a shock.
A "limited number" of Car Diffusers will also be offered at the abovementioned boutiques and on the brand's e-commerce platform.
